So I haven’t written in a while but I’m going to try and make this a weekly thing (maybe Sundays?) I’ve decided to work on baking a lot more, also. This weekend I was trying to figure out what I do best (out of cakes I mean) and it came to me! Brownies! I can make brownies into almost anything. Now I need to find a good recipe for icing that contains no dairy products and isn’t too sweet. If you have any suggestions I’d love to hear them. I’m experimenting and I hope to make some brownies really soon with something new on top. Thanks to Bakerella I’ve been able to think up new ideas. We’ll see how it goes!
So there is this “new” campaign going around that I think is pretty amazing and I absolutely love it. It’s called Because I am a Girl. You can go to their website and find out more about it but the gist of it is to help empower girls and helping girls change the world. I am big on women and girls rights so this has been right up my allie. Last night I made cookies with chocolate caramel on top. Once I find the recipe again I will give it to you…buttery deliciousness!
I just finished the book The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen. I read it in one day and I loved it. I know it might be crazy but I cried in it. I love Sarah Dessen because she talks about stuff in the actual world. Amazing. Absolutely amazing…on that note, I watched So You Think You Can Dance Canada and I have rechosen a couple fave’s. I’m rooting for Tara-Jean (big time after her performance tonight) and Everett. Now time to go curl up on the couch and watch 18 kids and counting.
I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas, just like the ones I used to know… It feels like christmas outside and I’ve already started listening to Christmas music (never mind, I start listening in September, I know, I love music). Today I went to Costco and the mall, absolutely the best day and I ended it off with a decaf espresso and the movie First Daughter. A great movie, I’ve seen it quite a few times. So I’ve been looking for a cute pair of boots without suede, I know, picky. If I could I would have shoes coming out of my ears. Since I sprained my ankle last winter I have to be so careful with the shoes I wear. Boo Hoo Hoo. I’ve added some Music that I enjoy to the blog but I don’t know if it will work. I’ll try it out, though. salut!
edit: I found out with the music, if you press play and then press video you can get the whole song and sometimes the video, if there is one. Enjoy.
Yesterday and Saturday were quite chilly so I decided to have a true Italian Espresso. We own a pot from Italy so I know it is good but of course I had decaf and a French Vanilla Creamer with no dairy products in it. How much I miss dairy! I watched Ghosts of Girlfriends Past this weekend as well. It was cute but not as good as I thought it would be, good movies can be so hard to find. Right now I have the snuffles so I’m drinking peppermint tea and curling up with a good book (Let Them Eat Cake). *achoo*
I went to Indigo and got two new books with a $20 gift card of mine. It took a couple of hours but I finally chose The Luxe by Anna Godbersen and The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen. I also got a book from the library, Let Them Eat Cake by Sandra Byrd. I should be sitting on the sofa for the next couple of days reading!
